In 2021, our family decided to venture into new territory for our business. The success of our Little Splatters kids art classes revealed a real need for more structured, creativity-focused art programs in our community. While our kids had great experiences at summer camps, mainly sports, scout camps, or local rec programs, there weren’t many summer art camp options available.
Our daughter, now the studio manager at Cheers N Paint, loved art from a young age. However, there were few summer art camp options. She attended a weekly art program during the school year, but it didn’t run in the summertime.
Her experience as a Boy Scout Camp counselor, artist, and a mom with a degree in early childhood development and art provided the background to develop the art curriculum needed to start an art camp at the Cheers N Paint Art Studio, right here in Cary, NC.
Family-Focused Art Camps That Prioritize Creativity
Cheers N Paint’s Kid’s Summer Art Camps were created because our family wanted to design a camp option focused on kids who enjoyed art. The objective was to inspire creativity, energize imagination, and most of all, find a way to channel kids’ artistic talents, all while having FUN.
Summer camp choices abound, and determining what is right for your child can be overwhelming for both parents and kids.
- Are you interested in a day or sleep-away camp?
- What fits your family’s schedule and budget?
- Do you go with an activity your child enjoys, or is it time for them to spread their wings and try something new?
As parents, we often rely on recommendations from friends or local publications listing camp choices, or maybe a Google search and review of ratings.
At Cheers N Paint Summer Art Camps, 80+% of our campers are returning campers or referrals.
What Makes Cheers N Paint Camps Special?
What makes our art camp special and a perfect choice for so many kids?
As business owners, we planned our summer camp series as a relaxed camp allowing for a good balance of artistic instruction, personal creativity, and time to let kids be kids!
We realized many schools no longer teach art or have limited programs. We also understand art is a great way to stimulate creativity and introduce kids to the application of creativity to the “nuts and bolts” of traditional academic subjects.
From painting and crafts to collaborative games, our camps emphasize:
- Teamwork and communication
- Social skills
- Responsibility
- Confidence through creativity
- Artistic foundations like color, composition, perspective, form, and structure
- A screen-free environment that encourages real social interaction
The Cheers N Paint environment allows campers to explore their creativity with many different mediums. While every project is supervised by our professional staff, our philosophy is to encourage, not limit individual expression. We provide a wider array of supplies beyond those of a home arts and crafts area. Our studio offers an expansive work space and plenty of peer artists offering encouragement and ideas.
Some projects take all week and others are done in a day. Plus, the studio is a place kids don’t need to worry about getting messy (and parents don’t need to clean up).
Where Fun Comes First: A Summer Art Camp That Feels Like Home
At Cheers N Paint, our summer art camps are built on one core belief: FUN first.
We believe summer means a break from school and its structure. It’s a time for kids to be kids and enjoy themselves!
The art studio is a little “old school,” encouraging campers to explore, create, and find new ways to spend their time, whether it’s making a dinosaur village from blocks or exploring new art techniques. Cheers N Paint is a screen-free zone, breaking away from texting and social media and letting campers develop their social skills, find their own style, and focus on creativity.
Campers start the week grouped by age and gender, but as the week goes on, we see lots of new friends being made across the range of attendees.
Our Cheers n Paint website offers glimpses into how much fun (and learning) goes on at art camp. Each year, we see more and more returning campers (some have been with us for 4 years!), who also bring along their friends! Some of our camp counselors have been with us several years, and we are proud to be able to hire local college students and high school seniors. One of our former camp counselors now works as an artistic instructor, teaching kid’s art classes, running private parties for kids and adults, and adult paint and sip events.
Art camp is so much more to us than a place for kids to spend a week or more during summer break or a product to sell to our customers. Hopefully we’ve created an environment that is an artistic outlet for your child.
